Ideye Concern For West Brom

West Brom’s coaching staff are said to be concerned by Brown Ideye’s struggles since moving to the Hawthorns during the summer.

The club-record signing has scored once in six appearances since joining from Dynamo Kiev in the summer and was left out of the squad for Saturday’s win at Leicester.

Manager Alan Irvine claims he left the Nigeria international at home because he wanted a more physical presence in his squad, with Georgios Samaras and Victor Anichebe on the bench at the King Power Stadium.

“What we knew was that Leicester had a physical presence. Generally, I have two centre-forwards on the bench and I decided that I needed physical options rather than somebody like Brown whose strengths are running in behind,” said Irvine.

However, reports claim the management staff at Albion are increasingly concerned by how poor the 26-year-old has been, with sources claiming he is way off being a Premier League player.

West Brom hope that Ideye’s performances will improve once his family moves to England next month and have ruled out sending him out on loan in January in the hope he will eventually come good.

  • He has. To improve to justify his first team inclusion. That is the reason he could make the world cup squard

  • Ideye is a good player but not as a point man. Use him in the midfield, also as a supporting striker. Using him as top striker cannot bring the best out of him
