Ighalo: Super Eagles Determined To Make Nigerians Happy Again

By James Agberebi:
Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has assured Nigerians that they will do everything possible to make them happy when they take on Iceland in their second Group D game of the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Super Eagles got off to a poor start following their 2-0 defeat to Croatia on Saturday.
An own goal by Oghenekaro Etebo and a penalty converted by Luka Modric gave Croatia their first opening group game win since France 1998.
Ighalo who was in action  for the Super Eagles against Croatia lamented the defeat to Croatia but stated he and his teammates are preparing to beat Iceland.
“It’s a game of football, we did our best but our best was not enough. We worked hard and in football whether win, lose or draw, the game goes on,” the China-based striker said in a video posted by former Super Eagles media officer Colin Udoh from Essentuki, Russia on Tuesday.
“We are not really happy about the loss but we are working very hard towards the next game and hopefully we are going to do what we know how to do best and make the fans happy again.”

If Ighalo plays, Nigeria will loose again and again. Ighalo brings BAD luck to the Nigeria’s National team. Period.

@ EDOMAN,nothing like bad luck, lets admit the fact.our super eagles are not in anyway better than croatia.i dont know if u have thought of it.they might not score one goal in this world cup, nobody should get it twisted,i support my country

      • Water wil find is level . Ashwo put Messi in defence he would do d right thing. Put igallo in defence  he wil tell u coach  put me there.ok

    • football is not about good or bad luck. It is about being played in your natural position by a coach who knows what he is doing.
I think you have been working too hard of late Edoman. Your judgement appears impaired. Go to bed, you need the rest.

Folks will remember me when everything is said and done. Nigeria team managed by this stupid couch will not win any match nor can it even score one goal to take home next week after the Argentina’s match.
@Ashy, you question my judgement but l am sure you will regret such words by the time this couch would have led our team and hopes down the river.

Any time i see his news I feel like giving him a dirty slap…. even if the coach plays you by mistake can’t u correct him and say no coach I am not good enough let Simy play instead

  • I am not an expert but I am watching Senegal vs Poland and can’t help but think that the best of our players will come out of the formation that Senegal’s coach is currently adopting.

    Think of it: 4-4-2

    ————— Uzoho —————

    Ebuehi—Ekong—Balogun — Echiejile

    ——– Ndidi -–—– Mikel ———-

    Moses —————————- Musa

    ———Ighalo –Iheanacho/Iwobi —

What do I know? I am so in love with the Super Eagles that it will hurt me so much if they crash out in a manner not befitting a country with a football pedigree, history and expectations as ours.

    • Minus igallo

Deo, I remember how you battled for late Keshi, I miss him. This team is going nowhere. It would be foolhardy to expect them to come of the group. This coach is worthless, he would not be able to coach a second division team in Germany not to talk of a national team, but what do Africans suffering from inferiority complex know? nothing.

Deo, lol I feel you Bro, Nigeria is coming home after the first round, this team is not good enough is not about formation, we just don’t have a good team, plus our coach is clueless.I have said several times u don’t go to a gun duel with a broom.By the way guys Iheanacho or simy are average players too just like Ighalo,. Rohr can  play any system he likes this team is coming home next week, no more shaku shaku dance for them.

  • Senegal 2:0 Poland. Why cannot the Super Eagles play like this?

  • Mr vick 5 months ago

Poland is been defeated by senegal, nigeria also defeated them in a friendly likewise croatia wining both african countries, what am trying to explain is that croatia is better than super eagles let’s stop dwelling on the past an move on we can still qualify if we really want to.

  • Ayphillydegreat 5 months ago

Senegal are actually playing 3-5-2. This is exactly what is missing in the SuperEagles play. Senegal is Africa’s only from the look of things

  • Ighalo sef!!! Everybody is assuring us u too follow dey assure. Bro, u can’t give what u don’t have. Unfortunately, we r a weak team. Simmy, Nacho, Etebo, Moses, Mikel etc. are all average at best. We don’t have ppl that can turn games around…but then again that’s what the world cup is for – discovering new talents!

  • Hi guys,I highly respect your comments with regards to our Eagles. It really did hurt losing a match at the beginning of the tournament. Nobody plans to fail.Check out Argentina, Brazil, Germany……They didnt get it right 1st and everyone goes back to drawing board. Our eagles , i believe will do the same.As per formation, its dependent on your opponent formation.
These are the same players that qualified irrespective of Cameroun- African champion , Algeria with African best and hot Zambia.Remember Ighalo played all matches .
Besides , we have alot of debutant in the squad.Lets support them and pray they excel.Win or loss, Naija for life.

  • Which player can turn a game when d whole team is not playing as a team, pls snap off that. Poland had Lewandowski on the field and as a world class striker he couldn’t do anything not cos his team were that bad but things didn’t go their way. As long as i give kudos to Senegal but one can not rule out the fact today that they were lucky meaning they had everything on their way today. Their both goals especially the second one we all saw what happened. Lesson learnt let always pray for luck in whatever we re doing no matter how brilliant we are

I trust rohr to experiment with a new 4-1-1-1-2-1 formation he saw his dream…pls leave Ebuehi out of ur failed team. U started by not using him so leave him out of ur clueless team.

I am not losing hope on Nigeria. We can still make it to 2nd round.

If I On my TV on that match day and see Ighalo on starting line up,I will off my TV and sleep.there is no goal in Ighalo.a strike that played 10 or 11 matches without scoring a goal, common sense should tell you that he is not a striker, let our coach make use of other strikers pls.

  • Donbenie 5 months ago

I wonder the kind of serious Otumakpo Ighalo used on Rohr, come on this guy is an insult to Strikers..
