Kelechi Iheanacho scored and provided an assist as Manchester City defeated Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford in the English Premier League lunch-time kick-off on Saturday.
De Bryune gave City the lead off Iheanacho's flick on in the first half, before the Nigerian youngster made it 2-0 with a tap-in.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic reduced the deficit following a mistake from goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
The win was City's fourth of the season while it was United's first defeat.
Pogba had the first sight on goal in the seventh minute but his curler from 25-yard went just over the bar.
In the 15th minute De Bruyne gave City the lead off Iheanacho's flick.
Iheanacho doubled City's lead on 36 minutes finishing off De Bryune's initial effort which came off the post.
With three minutes remaining Ibrahimovic reduced the deficit, volleying in after Bravo failed to hold Rooney's set piece.
Ibrahimovic almost drew United level on the stroke of half time following a mix-up in the City defence but his weak shot was cleared off the line.
Prior to the start of the second half United introduced Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera for Jesse Lingard and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
In the 48th minute Ibrahimovic had a chance to equalise for United but his effort flew over the bar.
City made their first change with Fernando replacing Iheanacho.
City made their second change with Leroy Sane going in for Sterling.
De Bryune had a chance on 61 minutes but his left low strike was well saved by De Gea.
In the 66th minute Ibrahimovic saw his volley off Fellaini's flick fly over the bar.
United had the ball in the net off Rashford's shot but it was ruled for offside after Ibrahimovic was penalised.
Otamendi almost extended City's lead but De Gea made a superb save.
De Bryune went close off Sane's assist but his effort came off the post.
A few minutes later Silva saw his curler go just over the bar.
City had a free-kick on the edge of united's 18 on 79 minutes but De Bryune skyed it over the bar.
United made their final change on 81 minutes with Martial replacing Shaw.
On 86 minutes Fernandinho made a dashing run towards United area but Bailly made a timely interception,
City made their final change with De Bryune going off for Zabaleta.
