Ik Uche Confirms Contract Talks

Villarreal striker Ikechukwu Uche has confirmed he is in negotiations with the club over a new and improved contract and hopes to pen a new deal soon.

The Nigerian’s current contract would see him become a free agent on June 30th 2015, but Villarreal are keen to retain his services beyond that date. It’s thought that initial contact was made around a fortnight ago, while the player appears receptive to extending his contract.

“I do not see it complicated to renew with Villarreal.

“We are negotiating a renewal, it is a possibility to continue with Villarreal. It is not difficult that it can be closed,” said Uche who has impressed for the Yellow Submarine so far this season.

The club are also confident that the offer they intend to make will be enough to retain Uche, but it will depend mostly on the player’s choice.

The 30-year old has been a pivotal figure at El Madrigal since returning from a loan spell at Granada in the 2011/12 season. He has scored 28 goals in the previous two seasons,
while also acting as the club’s top scorer in consecutive campaigns – making him a highly important member of Marcelino’s squad.
