Ikechukwu Uche and his Villareal teammates will have their hands full when they go on the road trip to confront Spanish La Liga giants, Barcelona at the hosts’ slaughterground otherwise known as the Bernabeu tomorrow.
The 31-year old Uche with 5 goals to his credit so far will be leading the Yellow Submarines forwardline alongside 21-year old Argentine sensation Luciano Vietto who is currently the club’s leading scorer with 9 goals. But Villareal on their part will have to contend with the fiery Barcelona attacking line that boast of the likes of Leonel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez amongts others.
In their last 5 games (in all competitions), Villareal drew two away games but won their last three matches played consecutively at home. That good run of form has seen them retain their 6th position on the league table with 38 points. However, Villareal’s form pales when compared to Barcelona with the Blagrauna having won all of their last five matches (in all competitions) to also retain their 2nd position on the log with 47 points – just a point behind leaders Real Madrid with 48 points.
With Villareal still in the race for a top-4 finish and Barcelona looking to upstage bitter rivals Real Madrid on top of the table, the stage is therefore set for an explosive match at the Bernabeu where fans will no doubt be treated to good football and it would be interesting to see if Villareal can escape from the Bernabeu unscatched.
