Nigerian striker Ikechukwu Uche scored for his relegation threatened side Gimnastic de Tarragona in their 1-0 away win against CD Tenerife in the Spanish LaLiga 1/2/3 (second division) on Sunday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Uche who featured throughout the encounter, scored in the 60th minute to give his team the vital win.
The goal was Uche's eight in 23 appearances for Gimnastic in the league this season.
Gimnastic are now 16th on 49 points in the 22-team league, two points above the relegation zone.
They must beat visiting UCAM Murcia next Saturday on the final day of the season to guarantee their safety in the Spanish second-tier league.
In another second division game played on Sunday, the duo of Kalu Uche, elder brother to Ikechukwu, and Ramon Azeez were benched as Almeria, also in relegation battle, were thrashed 4-0 away at Getafe.
Almeria occupy the 18th position on 48 points and just one point from the drop.
A win at home against Reus Deportiu on Saturday, will see Almeria remain in the second division for next season.
Kalu Uche has made 11 league appearances for Almeria, scoring two goals, while Azeez has made 21 appearances and has also scored two goals.
