Kano Pillars’ head coach, Kadiri Ikhana and the defender, Jamiu Alimu have admitted that they lucky to snatch a point in their rescheduled matchday-7 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clash against Rivers United in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Amos Gyang's stunning header in the second half handed Kano Pillars their first point away from home this season after Godbless Asamoah had shot Rivers United into the lead in stoppage time of the first half with a sublime finish.
The goal was Kano Pillars' first away from home in the NFPL this season.
"We played a very good team that is representing Nigeria in the CAF Champions League," Ikhana stated after the match.
"They (Rivers United) are doing well in the CAF Champions League and are also a very crack team.
"I will say we are very lucky to have gotten a point in Port Harcourt."
Jamiu Alimi also admitted that Pillars were lucky to have escaped with a point.
He said: "We were lucky Amos Gyang's header earned us a point and I believe we can build on this result in our next game."
