Coach of Enyimba Kadiri Ikhana has expressed happiness after his team defeated Dolphins 2-1 in the final of the 2014 Federation Cup decided at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
Reacting after the game, Ikhana who was in charge when Enyimba won the CAF Champions League in 2003, stated that winning the Federation was very important to him.
“We missed the league by a whisker, so I promised to give the Enyimba supporters the Federation Cup and I am very happy.
“Winning this cup is very important because I had three sleepness nights and I have been echoing to my boys, urging them to just win this cup and I can resign and leave coaching and they did it,” quips Ikhana who reveals this is his coach Federation Cup win, following his first gold medal with BCC Lions of Gboko.
League hot-shot Mfon Udoh opened the scoring in the 52nd minute before Chinonso Okonkwo doubled it on 73 minutes. Emem Eduok reduced the deficit with 10 minutes to go, but Enyimba held on for the win.
It would be recalled that Enyimba defeated Warri Wolves on penalties in last year’s final.
