MFM FC coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has attributed his team's 2-1 away loss to Katsina United in Wednesday's week 11 of the Nigeria Professional Football League to poor tactical decision on his part, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
MFM went into Wednesday's clash against Katsina full of confidence following their 2-1 win against champions Enugu Rangers last week Friday.
But a 90th minute goal from Martins Usule secured the win for Katsina United.
Reacting to the loss, Ilechukwu praises his players for their performance even in the defeat.
"It was a very tough game. Our plan was to go there and get the three points, but unfortunately, we conceded a late goal," Ilechukwu tells Completesportsnigeria.com.
"I made a mistake by not introducing a defender towards the end of the game. After watching how we've performed, I decided to bring in more strikers instead of holding on to what we already have.
"The players did their best and this is why I don't want to shift the blame to the players because they did very well, but unfortunately, their performance was not rewarded," Ilechukwu laments.
And speaking ahead of this weekend's home tie against bottom club, Remo Stars, Ilechukwu says he expects a difficult encounter but expresses confidence that his team has what it takes to emerge victorious.
"I am expecting a tough game because Remo are down in the league table. They will want to come with determination. But following our loss to Katsina United, we also will be determined to bounce back."
