MFM FC of Lagos coach Fidelis Ilechukwu believes Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup playoffs first leg clash against Djoliba Athletic Club from Mali as a must win game for his team, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Ilechukwu’s side dropped down to the CAF Confederation Cup after crashing out of the CAF Champions League to MC Algers 7-2 on aggregate.
The Olukoya Boys are currently 13th in the Nigerian Professional Football League having struggled to match their last season’s form when they finished second in the league.
“We have to win convincingly on Sunday to give ourselves a good chance of qualifying for the group stages,” Ilechukwu told CSN.
“The results have not been consistent but we are working hard to ensure that we don’t only win at home but also away as well. The game against MC Algers taught us so many lessons which will guide us into the group stages.
“Djoliba Athletic Club are a good side and I believe we can see them off to qualify for the group stages of the competition.”
MFM have won six games, lost six and drawn one in the NPFL this season with all the wins coming at the Agege Stadium, their home ground.
