MFM FC coach Fidelis Ikechukwu is confident his club will not be engaged in a relegation fight in the Nigeria Professional Football League once again this season, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Olukoya Boys started their campaign on an impressive note, thrashing Niger Tornadoes 3-0 at 'Soccer Temple' Agege Stadium on Sunday.
Last term, the Lagos club barely escaped the drop, needing a win on the final day of the season against FC IfeanyiUbah to maintain their top flight status.
Ikechukwu said his charges have learnt from that experience and will do better this season.
"It's important to start the new season with a win and we are extremely delighted with the victory against Niger Tornadoes," he told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"The race has just started and it is going to be a long and tortuous one but I believe the experience we garnered last season will be vital for us this time around.
"Last season was tough for us but we hope to better our performance especially as we have started with a win against a very good Tornadoes side.
"Hopefully, we will not be among the teams fighting for survival at any point in the season."
The Lagos-based side will be guests of FC IfeanyiUbah on Wednesday in Nnewi.
