Enugu Rangers technical adviser, Imama Amapakabo, is delighted to see his side start their campaign in the Nigeria Professional Football League Super Four competition on a winning note, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Flying Antelopes beat Rivers United 2-0 at 'the Cathedral' Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium on Wednesday, to move top of the standings on goal difference ahead of Wikki Tourists who defeated FC IfeanyiUbah 2-1 earlier in the day.
"I'm happy we won the game as Rivers United made things difficult for us especially in the first half," Imama told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"Our objective is to sustain the momentum from last season and prove that we are worthy champions of the league.
"The game was a good test for us and we hope to win our next two games against Wikki Tourists and FC IfeanyiUbah.
The Coal City side struggled to replicate their impressive showing of last season for the better part of the game with several of their key stars failing to live up to expectations in the game.
The former Enyimba assistant coach is however unperturbed with that as he is confident they will improve with more games.
"This competition is part of the process to knock us into shape ahead of the new season and I'm confident the boys will be ready for the campaign soon," he added
"We played against a strong side which is good for our preparation for the new season and the remaining two games will further knock us into a good shape. "
