Flying Eagles defenders Wilfred Ndidi and Izu Omego are presntly not training with the rest of the squad ahead of the return leg of the CAF U-20 African Youth Championship qualifier against Tanzania because both are injured, Completesportsnigeria.com can confirm.
Wifred Ndidi who missed the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup winning squad handled by Manu Garba and assisted by Nduka Ugbade, Emmanuel Amunike and Emeka Amadi but was part of the Flying Eagles team to last year’s U-20 FIFA World Cup is down with knee injury while Izu Omego, another cadet star who was dropped from the World Cup held in the UAE, is down with hamstring injury.
However Chidera Eze of FC Porto, who played a crucial part in the Golden Eaglets’ march to glory last year has recovered fully from his hamstring injury while Bernard Bulbwa is now fit from his groon injury.
Flying Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi in a chat with Comppletesportsnigeria.com believes the players will be fit for the return leg of the team’s African Youth Championship qualifier against the Ngorongoro Heroes of Tanzania.
“Yes, they have not trained with us for some days but hopefully they will recover on time to be part of the team for the Tanzania game.
“We need our best players for that game because we can’t afford to take chances against the Tanzanians,”Awoniyi who will sign a professional contract with the first team of Swedish side Kalmar FF next season adds.
