Nigeria Professional Football League leading scorer, Bright Ejike, will sit out action when his club, Heartland, play away to El-Kanemi Warriors Wednesday for a match day-18 clash, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Ejike who leads the 2014/2015 season scorers chart with 10 goals picked up a tear injury in Sunday’s 3-1 win over struggling Dolphins of Port Harcourt at Rojenny Stadium, Oba, near Onitsha.
“Ejike is doing well so far in the league as far as striking role is concerned,” PRO of the club, Cajetan Nkwopara.
“But unfortunately, he will not be available for the match against El-Kanemi in Katsina on Wednesday because he suffered a tear injury against Dolphins on Sundayn,” Nkwopara explained.
Ejike joined up with the Naze Millionaires from Sharks and has scored twice against the Blue Angels this term in two consecutive league and cup games.
Enyimba’s Mfon Udoh is reigning Nigeria top scorer after scoring a record 23 goals last season.
