Alonso Claims Denied By Red Bull

Red Bull have denied claims from Fernando Alonso that he was offered to drive for them on two occasions before deciding to retire. The Spaniard has decided to move onto new projects and move away from F1 from the time being.

The two-time world champion will now bow out at the end of the campaign after another disappointing campaign with McLaren.

Alonso has claimed Red Bull offered him Daniel Ricciardo’s vacant seat but the Austrian outfit have denied this.
When asked about Alonso’s comments, team boss Christian Horner told the official Formula One podcast: “I have huge respect for Fernando, he is a great driver, a fantastic driver, but…he’s tended to cause a bit of chaos wherever he’s gone.

“I’m not sure it would be the healthiest thing for the team for Fernando to join. Our preference is to continue to invest in youth than take a driver who is obviously close to the end of his career.”
