Anderson Hoping For White-Ball Recall

Corey Anderson has decided to focus solely on white-ball cricket in a bid to earn a recall to the New Zealand squad. The Kiwi all-rounder hasn’t played international cricket since the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy but hopes that by focusing on the shorter formats he can put himself in contention for a spot on the Black Caps’ World Cup squad next year.

The 27-year-old, who underwent back surgery a year ago, is now back to full fitness and keen to win back a spot in the international set-up.

Anderson has been selected for the New Zealand ‘A’ tour to play Pakistan ‘A’ and if he gets some runs and wickets in the United Arab Emirates, he could earn a chance to play for the senior squad.

Anderson, who featured in all nine of New Zealand’s matches at the 2015 World Cup, told Stuff.nz: “I got a taste of [the World Cup] here four years ago and it was unbelievable. To try and give myself a chance to be involved in that again, that’s the driving force.”
