Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa has been tipped to shine at Fulham by Marseille’s sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta. Cameroon international Anguissa made the move from Marseille to Craven Cottage for a reported 30million euros on deadline day and he has featured regularly since his arrival, making eight appearances in all competitions.
The 22-year-old only made his debut for Marseille in 2015 and Zubizarreta has confirmed that the French club had been keen to keep hold of his services, but when Fulham offered big money for a player still making his way in the game, he knew they could not turn the bid down.
“He has great potential,” Zubizarreta told French daily La Provence. “For me, he only played a season-and-a-half or two at the highest level. His last year at Marseille was his first full season with the club.
“If he had stayed, I would have been happy but I also understand the magnitude of the offer. There are other realities that we needed to consider.”
Despite Anguissa’s lack of experience, Zubizarreta feels the midfielder will ultimately be a success in the Premier League with Fulham.
“I’m happy for him, he will have a good career in English football,” the sporting director added.
