Manchester United scouts are now keeping tabs on Boca Juniors teenage midfielder Agustin Almendra, according to reports in Argentina. United chiefs were tipped off by South American spies on the classy 18-year-old, who has quickly been likened in his homeland to former Boca and Argentina legend Juan Roman Riquelme.

It’s understood the Red Devils have started to compile a dossier in recent weeks and know they are already playing catching up on Almendra.
Rivals Manchester City, along with Italian giants Roma and Inter Milan, are said to have already spoken to Boca and have asked to be kept updated on any major developments.
United are comfortable Boca have no plans to sell Almendra anytime soon, with reports circulating the Primera Division club will attempt to insert a huge buyout clause in his deal after just six appearances this term.
The Manchester giants have ramped up their global scouting network in the last 18 months and the flagging up of Almendra has underlined just how proactive they have become, with a clear mandate to identify future stars and save themselves huge outlays in the years to come.
