Mark Hughes has praised debutant Stuart Armstrong’s display against Burnley and has allayed any fears he had picked up an injury. The 26-year-old summer recruit from Celtic appeared to suffer a knock in the second half against the Clarets and was replaced by another recent signing, Danny Ings.
There were concerns Armstrong would be ruled out of this weekend’s clash at Everton but Hughes has played down any fears he is struggling and admitted he’d been impressed with what he saw from the midfielder in the St Mary’s stalemate.
He said in the Daily Echo: “I was pleased with his performance and I saw him walking around in the dressing room and he looks fine.
“He just got a bang so I imagine he’ll be OK.”
