The atmosphere within the Newcastle squad has changed markedly following their two recent wins, according to Christian Atsu. Victories against Watford and Bournemouth have lifted the Magpies up to 14th in the table and Rafael Benitez will fancy them to make it three in a row when they travel to Burnley after the international break.
The club’s form ahead of their upturn in fortunes lead to questions regarding Benitez’s future but their improvement has inevitably changed the outlook within the dressing room.

Atsu admits things have felt different within the camp and is confident their extra belief can make a difference going forward. “I have seen it in the faces of the players that they really care about this club,” Atsu told the Chronicle. “The atmosphere in the dressing room has changed completely from when we were not winning. “When things were against us, you could see that everyone was a bit down and the atmosphere was more difficult. That just shows that we are all professionals and we care. “When the first win came, the atmosphere changed straight away. It is different now, and we have to work hard and keep building. “We have some momentum now. Our confidence has been really boosted and you can see that everybody is happy.” Atsu concludes.
