Bernardo Impressed By Seagulls Starlets

Bernardo says he has seen plenty of first-team potential in the Brighton under-23 squad. The Brazilian made his first senior outing since August in Saturday’s 1-0 win at Newcastle and backed it up by playing for the club’s under-23s in Monday’s International Cup match against Benfica.

Goals from Viktor Gyokeres and Aaron Connolly gave the young Seagulls a 2-0 victory at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre.

Bernardo will be hoping to be given another chance by Chris Hughton on Saturday at home to Wolves but having stepped down with the development squad, believes the club’s current talent pool gives them plenty to look forward to in the coming years.

He is quoted as saying by the Argus: “We played a really good game and for me it was good to get some minutes. The tempo was really high, very similar to what I’ll see in the first team.

“It was good training for me and very good experience.
“Brighton has really good young players. There are individual players who can shine in the first team in the future.”
