Brighton Youngsters Showing Promise – Button

Brighton goalkeeper David Button believes the club’s youngsters put in a strong showing in Tuesday’s loss to Southampton. The Seagulls stopper was making his debut following a summer switch from Fulham but failed to keep a clean sheet as the Saints claimed a 1-0 victory.
Despite being on the losing side, Button was still able to find plenty of positives from their performance at the Amex Stadium.

Chris Hughton made plenty of changes and Will Collar, Ben Barclay and Bernardo were all handed a place in Brighton’s backline.
Button felt the trio showed real signs of promise and insists he has been impressed by the talent coming through the academy.
“It was a young defence in front of me and I thought they did really well and they were excellent,” he told the club’s official website. “I’m sure they’ll go on and keep improving so that’s one of the main positives from this evening.
“There’s real quality throughout all the age groups and I expected that when I came to the club.”
