Brooks Seals Somerset Switch

Somerset have confirmed they have signed Yorkshire paceman Jack Brooks on a three-year contract. The 34-year-old has spent six seasons at Headingley, becoming a real fan favourite for the White Rose.
He won the County Championship with the Tykes in 2014 and 2015 but he has decided to move on.

The former Northants fast bowler has taken 409 first-class wickets in 114 matches and he will join Alex Lees and Liam Plunkett who will also leave Headingley this year.
Somerset’s director of cricket Andy Hurry insists it is a great deal for the club as they try to push for titles in the coming years.

He told reporters: “Jack is a winner by nature. He still possesses a fierce desire to win trophies. He made a tremendous first impression when we first spoke.
“There is a heavy schedule of international cricket next summer and we could lose one or more of our pace bowlers to England call-ups. We also know from experience that injuries can deplete our attack. Recruiting Jack will guard against those eventualities.”
