Lucien Favre doesn’t think Christian Pulisic will be able to line up for Borussia Dortmund when Frankfurt visit on Friday. Pulisic has a muscle injury and missed BVB’s draw with Hannover two weeks ago as well as the USA’s fixtures during the international break.
Dortmund boss Favre says the 19-year-old is close to a comeback but he says the visit of Frankfurt is likely to come too soon for the youngster.
“Christian Pulisic is making improvements in his recovery, but Friday will probably come too soon for him,” Favre told reporters on Wednesday.
Favre also suggested Paco Alcacer, who joined the club on loan from Barcelona during the summer, may have to settle for a place on the bench.
He said: “Paco likes to combine with his colleagues. He has a scoring threat and the intuition to position himself in dangerous areas. However, we have to integrate him step by step.
“We still have to find our best system and we have to learn which players work in which systems. That will be relevant when we begin to rotate.”
