Cardiff Happy To Contribute To Scudamore Send-Off

Cardiff chief executive Ken Choo says the club are happy to contribute £250,000 as part of Richard Scudamore’s leaving gift. Scudamore is set to step down from his position as the Premier League’s executive chairman next month after 19 years with the organisation and Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has suggested each top-flight club contribute £250,000 to hand the 59-year-old a £5million parting gift.

It is believed five clubs are opposed to that idea, including Wolves and Fulham, who were promoted alongside Cardiff last season, but Choo has confirmed that the Bluebirds are happy to contribute their share. “He [Scudamore] has done a great job,” Choo told the BBC. “He has moved the Premier League on to another level, and he has allowed someone new [his successor, Susanna Dinnage] to take it further now. “He deserves the recognition.”

Scudamore has certainly played a major role in the Premier League’s development over the last two decades, particularly in regards to television rights, which were valued at around £670million when he joined the organisation and now stand at £5.14billion.
