Fresh reports claim Wolves Ivan Cavaleiro could be out of action for six weeks with the back injury that has been hampering him. The 24-year-old featured only sporadically during pre-season and was left out of the squad for Wolves’ opening 2-2 draw with Everton on Saturday.
His lack of activity prompted speculation that boss Nuno Espirito Santo was considering selling him after a summer of healthy recruitment at Molineux, but it seems as though that will not be the case.
The coach admitted at the weekend that the Portugal international needs to “rest” but the Express & Star are now claiming that his back problem will keep him out of action for a sustained period of time.
Former Monaco player Cavaleiro featured 70 times in all competitions for the West Midlanders over the past two seasons, scoring 13 goals and his absence will be a blow to Wolves as they need experience among all the new faces when trying to establish themselves in the Premier League.
The men in gold and black travel to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City on Saturday before champions Manchester City come calling seven days later.
