Chester Extends Stay At Wakefield

Wakefield have confirmed coach Chris Chester has signed a new three-year deal with the Super League outfit. The 40-year-old took the reins at Belle Vue in 2016 and has overseen a steady development which has led to two straight fifth-place finishes and a semi-final appearance in the Challenge Cup.

Chester’s previous deal ran until the end of the 2019 campaign but the board decided to reward the progress he has overseen with a new contract.

Chief executive Michael Carter described the news as “absolutely fantastic”, while the former Hull KR boss, who is also co-coach of Scotland alongside John Duffy, says it was an easy decision to stay at his hometown club.

Chester told the club’s website: “I am very happy. To get my deal sorted so quickly is great news for me and my family. “We are very settled here, I am a Wakefield Trinity fan and a Wakefield lad and I am delighted to have agreed another three years.”
