Burnley midfielder Steven Defour is hoping to kick on after finally returning from injury in Saturday’s defeat to Manchester City. The Belgian was understandably disappointed with the final result as City ran out comfortable 5-0 winners but he was pleased to be back in the fold.
Defour made his first Premier League appearance since January as he got 75 minutes under his belt at the Etihad Stadium.
He is likely to be named in the starting XI once again on Sunday when Chelsea come to town and the 30-year-old says he is focussed on building up his fitness after his long-awaited return.
Defour told Burnley’s official website: “I felt very good. Physically it went well.
“You know it’s a tough one to come out here and you know you’re not going to touch a lot of the ball.
“But it felt good and you have to start somewhere to get the rhythm of the Premier League.
“It was important for me to get out there to get that rhythm, for today at least, and get ready for the coming weeks. That’s why it was important to go out there.”
