Matteo Darmian’s representatives are due in Manchester later today to discuss whether the Italy right-back will be leaving the club. Agents from TPM Soccer will meet with Manchester United officials and are expected to present proposals from Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli.
Darmian played the full 90 minutes of last week’s opening-day victory over Leicester City and is receiving mixed messages from boss Jose Mourinho, who is reviewing his squad options after a disappointing transfer window in which he failed to land all his targets.
The Red Devils signed 28-year-old Darmian from Torino for £13m back in 2015 and he is thought to favour a return to Turin with Juve.
United currently have Antonio Valencia and new signing Diogo Dalot injured on the sidelines, bringing Darmian back into the first-team picture.
The Italian is useful because he can also play at left-back, giving Mourinho further pause for thought.
United, however, know the player has less than 12 months remaining on his contract, although they are able to take up their option of a further year.
Darmian’s agents were told earlier this year that the former Palermo man could leave if United get their money back and will not be happy if they are now being told the goalposts have moved late in the day.
