Defour Eyes Clinical Approach

Burnley midfielder Steven Defour has conceded his side need to be more clinical at both ends of the pitch if they are to improve. The Clarets have failed to find any consistency this season, most notably during the early part of the campaign when they were battling to qualify for the Europa League group stages.

Having been knocked out of Europe, there were signs of improvement from Sean Dyche’s men, only for them to then suffer heavy defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea in their last two league outings.

Having also been knocked out of the EFL Cup, Defour believes Burnley need to be more consistent in the key areas.
He told the Lancashire Telegraph: “If you look at last year, it all went for us, now it’s going against us a little bit.

“We have small opportunities like Corky and Vokesy, but then you see how clinical Chelsea are. We have to be more clinical at both ends of the pitch – we’ve got some of the good play from last year, but we have to do it for a full 90 minutes like we did last year.

“We’re working on it, everybody is getting back now, people are getting fitter, it will work at some point.”
