Lyon star Memphis Depay has again stated he would be open to a move to a “big club” as he is ready to take “another step”. Depay indicated over the summer he was ready to move on after a year-and-a-half with Les Gones but a deal failed to materialise.
The 24-year-old Dutchman, who had an unsuccessful one-and-a-half-year spell at Manchester United between summer 2015 and January 2017, insists he is happy at Lyon, but reiterated his hopes of joining one of Europe’s giants in the not too distant future in an interview with Fox Sports this week.
“I think I’m ready to climb a new step, as I said recently, and I say that with great respect for Lyon, which is also a big club,” he said.
“OL for the way they treat me and I’m happy to play football here, but in my opinion I’m ready to take another step to the next floor. If I continue to practice my game and progress, [a big move] will come naturally.”
