Mo Diame is looking for Newcastle to build on the point picked up at Crystal Palace by defeating Leicester at home this weekend. The Magpies were again set up in a defensive mode to try and halt a run of four successive defeats in all competitions since battling to a goalless draw at Cardiff in August.
And, while they were unable to secure a first win of the season, Rafael Benitez’s side did stop the rot and took a well-earned point away from Selhurst Park.
The Tynesiders remain in the relegation places, but Diame is looking to use the lift from the 0-0 draw at Palace and look for a win when the Foxes arrive at St James’ Park on Saturday.
The 31-year-old former Senegal midfielder told the Chronicle: “A point is more than good for us.
“I think after the tough start to the season we had it was important to start taking points from somewhere.
“That’s what we did at Crystal Palace and now we need to focus on Leicester City at home.”
