Wolves’ Matt Doherty has won the PFA Fans’ Premier League Player of the Month award and reckons he’s in the best form of his career. The 26-year-old scored his first Premier League goal on Saturday as Nuno Espirito Santo’s won 1-0 at Crystal Palace.
And, prior to the confirmation he had beaten Alexandre Lacazette, Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, James Maddison and Eden Hazard to September’s award, he admitted his form has never been better.
Doherty said: “I would say I am in the best form of my life because of the standard we are playing at now.
“I mean I had some good times when I was playing in the Championship, but we are in the Premier League now so to continue that form, the way I am now, yes it has filled me with a lot of confidence and I would say I am probably in the best form of my life.
“It feels pretty to good to score my first Premier League goal because it is the best league in the world.
“To get the goal and obviously we won 1-0 so we keep the clean sheet, it was a pretty good day against Crystal Palace.”
