Doucoure Flourishing Under Gracia

Doucoure Flourishing Under Gracia

Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure says he is flourishing under Javi Gracia’s management. The Frenchman struggled to establish himself when he first moved to Vicarage Road from Rennes in 2016 and he spent some time on loan in Spain with Granada.

However, the 25-year-old firmly established himself in the Watford line-up during Marco Silva’s tenure as manager and he has become even more integral since Gracia took charge in January.

Indeed, Doucoure’s form saw him linked with a move away from Watford, although he put pay to those rumours by signing a new long-term contract during the summer and he has now revealed that Gracia was one of the main reasons he chose to commit his future to the club.

“Since last year he always wanted me to stay and told me he wanted to work with me. We spoke a lot about it,” Doucoure was quoted as saying by the Harrow Times. “He is a great manager and a good person who has changed a lot at the club since he came here.”

Doucoure also credits Gracia with improving him as a player over recent months.
He added: “Even in training he pushes us very hard as players and when we do something wrong he rectifies it straight away. I love his management and he has improved me a lot.”
