West Ham could add summer signings Lucas Perez and Carlos Sanchez to their squad for Saturday’s visit of Bournemouth. The duo joined the Hammers on deadline day but were not involved in the 4-0 defeat at Liverpool on the opening day of the season.
Boss Manuel Pellegrini was coy on the subject of Perez and Sanchez featuring in the first game of the campaign at the London Stadium, indicating both would start on the bench if they made the matchday squad.
Andy Carroll, Winston Reid and Manuel Lanzini remain long-term injury absentees but Pellegrini has an otherwise fully-fit squad.
Pellegrini handed debuts to six of his summer signings last week at Anfield but was left disappointed by the performance of his new-look side as the Reds ran riot.
The Chilean hopes that with another week under his belt working with his new charges they can produce a much-improved showing against the Cherries.
“So every week is important in this moment, when you bring in so many players and have so many changes. We have nine new players and every week that you have you are working with them to try and improve. I don’t think that game will change my mind and the way we think,” said Pellegrini.
“If you have ask me a few weeks ago about Liverpool, I would say we will continue afterwards exactly the same no matter the result. We will try to win as many games as possible and we won’t be changing our final target.”
