Sean Dyche believes he will learn more about his Burnley side during Sunday’s Premier League clash with Chelsea at Turf Moor. The Clarets saw a three-match unbeaten run come to an end when they lost 5-0 at Manchester City last time out and now come up against another of the title contenders when Chelsea visit Lancashire.
Dyche insists Burnley’s season cannot be judged on their results against the big teams but he does believe he can learn a lot about his side from the way they compete.
“You are trying to learn from those games, of course, but you are not measuring yourself against those sides,” he told reporters.
“Our time in the Premier League has never been measured against the super powers, it is more about the teams who are similar to ourselves, fighting to get points on the board every week to continue what they are doing.
“If you keep your performance levels right then over a season it has its worth. Whoever we play, performance is key.”
Burnley have only won one of their last eight meetings with Chelsea but their sole victory during that run was a 3-2 victory at Stamford Bridge last season.
