Elliott Calls For Attacking Newcastle

Former Newcastle defender Robbie Elliott says his former employers should attack Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The Magpies go in search of their first Premier League win of the season on Saturday evening when they make the trip to Manchester but, as the history books show, the north east outfit have struggled at the Theatre of Dreams.

Newcastle last picked up a win at Old Trafford came back in 2013 – a 1-0 success courtesy of a Yohan Cabaye strike – while Rafael Benitez’s men haven’t won a league game away from home in their last six attempts.

The Red Devils are in a mini-crisis of their own after Tuesday’s 0-0 home draw against Valencia in the Champions League, with the 20-time English champions failing to pick up a win from their last four matches.

Elliott, who was part of Kevin Keegan’s much-heralded side of the 1990’s, has now called on his former employers to put in an attacking display against Jose Mourinho’s side.

Writing on his official Twitter account, he said: “After seeing Man U’s recent performances and lack of confidence and cohesion surely we have to go at them on Saturday and try to win the game. There to be got at!”
