Lucien Favre remained upbeat despite watching Borussia Dortmund slip to a 2-0 Champions League defeat at Atletico Madrid. BVB hammered the Spanish outfit 4-0 on matchday 3 but got nowhere near that performance on this occasion at goals from Saul Niguez and Antoine Griezmann did the damage.
Dortmund remain joint top of the group with Atleti as they both sit on nine points, and Favre refused to be downbeat despite suffering a defeat. “It’s a defeat, that can happen. It’s just a football match,” Favre said after the match.
“They played very well defensively, they were very patient and very dangerous after winning the ball. “We unnecessarily lost some balls and they did well on the counter. You have to be more patient and avoid giving away the balls like this.
Having so much possession, that’s positive, but we have to do more with this.”
Dortmund will now switch their focus to the upcoming Der Klassiker against Bayern Munich this weekend.
