Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir is still brooding over his failed move to Liverpool, according to manager Bruno Genesio. The Frenchman, who was part of the squad that won the World Cup in Russia this summer, was the subject of a bid from Liverpool, thought to be around the £60million mark.
However, a medical showed up an existing knee problem for the 25-year-old and Lyon were unwilling to sell the player for a lower price so the move was cancelled, with Fekir clearly keen to make the switch to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
And Genesio admits that Fekir is still showing signs of frustration.
“It is never easy accepting this kind of situation, when you are very near to signing for a club where you want to go,” Genesio told reporters.
“Where you want to reach another level and to give a boost to your career.
“But as I said, it could have been worse for him. He is at Lyon, at a strong club, he is captain of a team who plays in the Champions League.”
