Germany have appointed former Bath coach Mike Ford to lead them during their World Cup qualifying campaign.
The 52-year-old has gained plenty of coaching experience over the last few decades and he most recently spent time in charge of Bath and Toulon.
Ford, who also enjoyed a spell as defence coach with the British and Irish Lions in 2005, will oversee Germany’s games against Hong Kong, Canada and Kenya.
Germany face a tough task in trying to qualify for the World Cup but Ford insists he is up for the challenge.
Ford said: “I am delighted that I now have the opportunity to develop such an ambitious team as Germany, and possibly even lead them to a World Cup for the first time.
“Of course it is a big challenge, but that is what makes this task so attractive.
“I think that this national team has a lot of potential.”
