Fulham Set To Return For Celtic Star

Fulham are reportedly plotting a fresh move for Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata in January after seeing a summer bid rejected. The Cottagers were one of a number of teams linked with the Belgium international during the summer, but the Scottish champions refused all bids for Boyata.

The Daily Mail claim they will renew their interest in the 27-year-old as new boss Claudio Ranieri addresses his side’s leaky defence that has conceded 31 goals from their opening 12 matches in the Premier League this season.

Boyata’s contract is due to expire next summer and Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers knows the sensible move would be to cash in on the player at the midway point of the campaign.

Boyata’s agent, Jacques Lichtenstein, revealed in August that Fulham, Greek side Olympiakos and Turkish outfit Fenerbahce all wanted to sign Boyata after his impressive World Cup performances in Russia. “Previously there was interest from Fulham, Olympiakos and Fenerbahce,” Lichtenstein told the Daily Mail.

“Offers of £7million and £8million – but apparently Celtic is financially strong enough not to go into that. “It’s strange because, on the other hand, the club apparently does not have the money to make Dedryck a dignified new contract proposal.”
