Leeds coach Dave Furner feels new signing Trent Merrin will bring plenty to the party and can improve while at the club. The Rhinos announced earlier this week that the 29-year-old has become their fifth winter singing, with Tui Lolohea, Callum McLelland, Konrad Hurrell and Dom Crosby all on board for 2019.
The Australia international has penned a four-year deal at Headingley after making the switch from Penrith Panthers and will join up with his new team-mates in early December.
Furner is excited by the capture and believes the Sydney-born ace has the ability to make a real difference at the Yorkshire outfit. “I think he has still got room to even get better,” he said. “He’s an Origin player and he has played for Australia so he has played at the highest level.
He is going to bring a lot of that experience to the team. He was with the Australian World Cup side last year and he has made it known he wants to play some really good footy. “He is excited about coming to Leeds and about the way we want to play.”
