Sampdoria are lining up a January move for Southampton forward Manolo Gabbiadini, reports claim. Italy international Gabbiadini arrived at St Mary’s in January 2017 and he made an impressive start to life on the south coast, scoring four goals from 11 Premier League appearances in the second half of the 2016/17 season.
However, the 26-year-old struggled during the 17/18 campaign after making just 11 league starts and there were several reports linking the forward with an exit in the summer transfer window.
A deal failed to materialise and the Calcinate-born star, whose current deal expires in 2021, opened his account for the season in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Watford.
With the January window getting ever closer, the rumours of an exit have resurfaced and it is claimed Serie A outfit Sampdoria are keen to sign Gabbiadini on loan, with the forward having previously represented the Blucerchiati between 2013 and 2015.
Marco Giampaolo is eager to bring in attacking reinforcements and he wants to land the Saints ace on a temporary deal with an option to make the move permanent.
