Marseille boss Rudi Garcia has revealed his delight after his side came from behind to beat Monaco on Sunday. Les Phoceens finished fourth in Ligue 1 last term and Garcia is keen to take them even higher this season after keeping hold of their star players.
Monaco are expected to be in the mix at the top of the table again so Garcia was desperate to send out a message at the Stade Louis II on Sunday.
After falling 2-1 behind, Marseille showed incredible spirit to battle back in the second period, eventually going on to win 3-2, and the boss was not short on praise for his troops.
Garcia said: “We absolutely wanted to win against a competitor like this and on the road. We remembered the slap we took last season here. We wanted to set the record straight.
“We are happy to offer this to our supporters. Thanks to those who were here tonight and who supported us all matches.”
