Lyon boss Bruno Genesio reportedly laid into Memphis Depay in front of his team-mates after his recent moan about a lack of action. The former Manchester United winger, according to RMC Sport, was subjected to a public dressing down from his boss, who was said to be unhappy with the Netherlands international’s comments following Lyon’s 2-1 win over Angers.
Depay found himself on the bench for the game, despite scoring in the previous match, and when he came on he contributed again with an assist and another goal but commented afterwards that he “didn’t feel like a respected player” and “should play every game”.
Genesio hit back, though, and reportedly sarcastically apologised to him in front of his team-mates in training and said he needed to be more humble.
Despite his recent outburst, Depay has started eight of Lyon’s 11 Ligue 1 games so far this term, scoring three times in total, while he’s also been in the XI for two of their three Champions League group games, scoring once.
