Gonalons Situation Could Force Sevilla Hand

Gonalons Situation Could Force Sevilla Hand

Sevilla are reportedly rejigging their January plans following the injury to Maxime Gonalons. The Frenchman suffered a fractured left tibia on Thursday against Los Rojiblancos’ second team, Sevilla Atletico, and his surgery has been delayed due to a fever.

Gonalons is expected to go under the knife on Sunday in Lyon but it remains unclear as to whether he will be able to return before the end of the season.

The 29-year-old has only made five appearances for the club since joining from Roma over the summer but appeared to be finding his form after some encouraging showings in the Europa League.

With Ever Banega only managing to play one game a week, Pablo Machin is reportedly looking to sign a replacement in order to reinforce his side’s European hopes beyond the turn of the year.
It was previously thought their number one target was a central defender, with both Inter Milan’s Miranda and Real Valladolid’s Calero tipped as options.
