Captain Lewis Gregory was the star with a rapid unbeaten 60 as Somerset beat Nottinghamshire by 19 runs to reach T20 Finals day.
The 26-year-old came in at the fall of Corey Anderson’s wicket, with the South West county struggling at 128-5 in the 15th over.
However, he made a mockery of the situation to smash five sixes and two fours in a scintillating 24-ball knock to help the hosts reach 209-5 from their 20 overs.
James Hildreth hit 52 from 28 deliveries, while Tom Abell collected four fours and one six in his unbeaten 46.
Notts made a decent fist of their chase, with England’s Alex Hales scoring 45 and Jake Libby 41 but, despite 36 from wicket-keeper Tom Moores, they were always behind the rate.
Jamie Overton was expensive but took five wickets and the Somerset seamer is now relishing a semi-final with Sussex.
“We haven’t been to Finals Day for a few years, so it will be nice for me to get there and see what the atmosphere is all about,” he told BBC Sport.
“Obviously we beat Sussex at Hove recently so we go there with a positive attitude and hopefully we can put one over them again.”
