Midfield starlet Claudio Gomes is enjoying working with Pep Guardiola after joining from Paris Saint-Germain during the summer. The French giants were left seething that the talented 18-year-old refused the offer of a new deal before opting to sign for the Citizens to work under the Etihad boss.
Gomes has captained France at various youth levels and is rated as one of the brightest talents in his country, being likened in playing style to former Real Madrid and Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele. The teenager has already had a brief taste of the City first team this season, appearing in the Community Shield triumph over Chelsea and last week’s Carabao Cup win against Fulham.
There are suggestions Gomes will eventually be loaned out by City but the starlet has been suitably impressed during his brief time with Guardiola. Gomes told OnzeMondial: “Pep Guardiola is a person who wants to get the best out of every player – that’s his strength and what makes him the best coach in the world. “He is always behind his players, urging them to give more and make th most of their qualities.”
