Gunnarsson Happy With Fitness After Injury

Aron Gunnarsson is pleased with how he has returned to fitness after the knee injury that kept him out at the beginning of the season. The Cardiff City star had to take time off to rest the injury after rushing his comeback from an operation in order to play at the World Cup with Iceland over the summer.

But, he returned to action with the Bluebirds against Fulham last month and also started the last three Premier League matches against Liverpool, Leicester City and Brighton and Hove Albion.

Although he now does not train every day like he used to, Gunnarsson is positive about how his comeback has gone and revealed he thought there would be more pain from the joint. “I’ve been building up and am now playing full games. I have done it to allow my knee to get used to the stress again,” Gunnarsson told Fotbolti.net.

“After playing, I take time to rest and slowly build it up. There’s been no reaction yet and that’s positive. “I expected to feel worse when I’d go back to playing games. It’s really positive that the knee is able to handle the power and speed in the Premier League again.”
