Gunners Star To Miss Gabon Duty

Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been ruled out of Gabon’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mali due to a back injury. The former Borussia Dortmund forward was hoping to feature in Saturday’s game but Arsenal’s medical team have confirmed the striker will not be able to play.

With the Gabon FA seemingly not releasing details of why Aubameyang withdrew from the national squad, the Gunners forward has been left extremely frustrated that some might question his loyalty to his country. “It’s bizarre. Any FA will publish the reason why one of its players can’t report for international duty,” he said.

“But in this case, our association definitely received an e-mail from my doctor (saying I am injured). However, they still haven’t made this fact public. “People are going to say that Aubameyang declined to turn up. It looks as though I have refused to come along for a different reason.”

Arsenal will be hoping to have Aubameyang fit and ready for their return to Premier League action on November 25 at Bournemouth.
